Nurbol Tolganbek recently has joined our battery research group as PhD student. Officially, he became PhD candidate after successfully defending his research topic on Development of Advanced electrolytes for all-solid-state Li-ion batteries.
Mr. N. Tolganbek obtained his Master’s degree from University College London (UCL), The United Kingdom. His Master’s research topic was on designing sustainable oxidation catalysts for brine splitting.
He did his undergraduate at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. His interest was on algae growing for CO2 absorption. In his final year of study, he joined the field of interest and fertilizers to develop a new organic-mineral fertilizer. As a result, he has become one of co-authors of a patent of Kazakhstan.
Currently, he is synthesizing new solid electrolytes for the next generation Li-ion batteries. His also interested in investigation of interphase problem between electrodes and electrolyte. PhD supervision committee consists of four people. Main supervisor is Dr. Zhumabay Bakenov, Professor at School of Engineering in Nazarbayev University. Co-supervisors are Dr. Berik Uzakbaiuly, a researcher at National Laboratory Astana (NLA) and Dr. Almagul Mentbayeva, a postdoctoral researcher at School of Engineering in Nazarbayev University. The external supervisor is Professor Kiyoshi Kanamura from Tokyo Metropoliten University.
As the battery group, we want to welcome Mr. Nurbol Tolganbek to our research group, hoping for his great achievements in his research field and successful accomplishment of PhD degree.
